Through his travels, Farshid Etniko accumulated the music of the world, making it his own, weaving the variety of styles and influences together into a sound that is unique and familiar. His band is an ensemble that performs Latin, popular Jazz standards, as well as compositions that blend Middle Eastern & Flamenco influences with Latin beats and American Blues sensibilities.
Farshid's group has opened for Carlos Santana, Greg Adams, Taj Mahal, Cassandra Wilson, Angelique Kidjo, Shahin & Sepehr, B 52. Farshid has also had the privilege to perform with world renown Grand Masters such as Ustad Imrat Khan Sitar, Irish Pipes wizard Paddy Keenen, Paquito & Sandro Lorier Gypsies from France, guitarist Alfonso S Ponticelli and virtuoso artists from St. Louis such as Dave Black, Sandy Weltman, Carolbeth True, Phil Gomez, Willem Von Hombracht, Tom Byrne, Aaron Burlbaw with Acoustik Element, Billy Barnett and Jeanne Trevor.
One could label JD Hughes as a musical chameleon of sorts, with the ability to play a wide range of musical genres and sit quite comfortably in each different setting. In his hometown of St. Louis, JD has graced the stages of many stages such as The Big Top, Joe’s Cafe, The Old Rockhouse, The Dark Room, Broadway Oyster Bar, The Pavilion at Atomic Cowboy and frequently performs solo/duo/trio gigs at smaller venues, country clubs, and private parties.
JD is the band leader of JD Hughes & The Fuze, a Jam Funk Jazz band that covers funk and soul music as well as their own originals. JD also plays in several cover groups (Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, & Steely Dan) around town while studying & teaching private music lessons to aspiring musicians of all ages. His heartfelt nature is felt though his guitar, voice and authenticity as well as through a mature and humbling performance.
