Blue Strawberry | Broadway's Aladdin for three years and The Muny's Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid | Michael Maliakel

Michael Maliakel

Fresh off a three year run as the title character in Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, Michael Maliakel (pronounced Molly-uh-kell) presents an eclectic evening of music chronicling his unique path from classically-trained opera singer to Broadway leading man. Drawing on Michael's richly-varied repertoire spanning the Golden Age of Broadway, the American Songbook, contemporary pop, and yes, Disney classics, this evening will feature something for everyone.
This summer, Michael makes his MUNY debut as Prince Eric in Disney's The Little Mermaid. Prior to Aladdin, Michael toured with the 25th anniversary production of The Phantom of the Opera. He recently made his Kennedy Center Debut in the critically-acclaimed production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard starring Tony award winner Stephanie J. Block. Michael was featured on two PBS concert specials, "Broadway's Brightest Lights" with Broadway veterans Megan Hilty and Nikki Renée Daniels, and "An Evening with Lerner and Loewe" with Jenn Colella and Aaron Lazar. A third PBS special, "Christmas with the Tabernacle Choir" will be released this December featuring Michael as the guest soloist for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square's iconic Christmas concerts. In addition to his acting credits, Michael has performed with orchestras around the country including the National Philharmonic, the American Pops Orchestra, the Tallahassee Symphony, the Savannah Philharmonic.
