Nadia Maddex

Nadia Maddex returns to the Blue Strawberry for a valentine's day themed cabaret. This show will include some of her favorite, R&B, jazz and musical theatre songs in the key of love and heartbreak. Nadia is a passionate educator and accomplished vocalist based in St. Louis, MO. Nadia is a graduate of Lindenwood University with a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music Education and a minor in Musical Theatre; she is currently pursuing her graduate degree at the University of Missouri- Columbia. For work, Nadia is the Director of 7-12 Vocal Music at Maplewood Richmond Heights and leads the choirs at Eliot Unitarian Chapel. She also holds a leadership position as the Vocal Jazz Resource Chair for the Missouri Choral Directors Association. Beyond the classroom, Nadia is an active clinician and performer with an extensive background in choral music, solo performance and musical theatre. Her recent highlights include singing the national anthem for St. Louis City SC and the Savannah Bananas. However, her most prominent performance involvement is with the St. Louis Symphony’s IN UNISON Chorus as a soprano Young Artist. In this position she has performed as a soloist, host  and chorus member, and it has allotted her the opportunity to perform as a soloist abroad in London and Dublin. In addition to her current role, she has contributed to the IN UNISON program as a chorus assistant, and fellow.

Collaborative accompanist, Carter Datz, is a passionate music educator, composer, arranger, producer, and performer. He attended Truman State University where he earned his B.A. in Music Composition, his M.A. in Choral Conducting, and his M.A. in Music Education. Since then, Datz’s award-winning compositions and arrangements have been performed all over the world. He is currently employed as the choir director at Wentzville Liberty High School in Lake St. Louis where he enjoys writing music for and with his students.
